Terry Rasor is from Fort Worth, Texas. He began playing music on the guitar and mandolin at age nine and was performing at only fourteen, singing and playing mandolin in the award winning bluegrass ensemble, 'The Sunset Harmony Boys'. Terry was also a founding member of 'Trinity,' an acoustic four piece doing their part in helping usher in that west coast progressive country sound of the very early seventies! The Singer/Songwriter began honing his craft on a solo path in the coming years and in '88 he formed country rockers 'Over The Edge', November '90 he recorded and published his first album 'Terry Rasor & Over The Edge LIVE at Caravan of Dreams'. He was named 'Specialty Band of the Year' in '90 and 'Songwriter of the Year' in '91 by the MCMA, and for some time now he's been actively involved in the Texas music scene and a strong voice for independent singers, songwriters and musicians promoting his annual three day 'Raz On The Braz' music festival for twenty years and fifteen plus years with his weekly anchor 'Raz n Freindz' song swap. Terry and his band have been through several changes, but the raw-gritty-straight ahead sound coupled with his incredibly soulful lyrics and melodies have held true through it all. Terry plays over 100 live performances a year and his discography includes the '98 release of 'Takin Ransom', a chest full of self penned songs that includes two songs written by producer and legendary Texas rocker John Nitzinger. Successfully touring Europe twice, Terry is particularly fond of the black forest of Germany, where he was deemed "dark and mysterious" in a Neckerburg radio interview. His second CD, titled 'Texas Hi-Way Troubador' debuted in 2001 and received extensive airplay in Germany, Sweden and Austrailia. Terry returned from his second European tour with a fire in his belly and the appetite for an entirely new cache of songs, 'Write It Down' is all original and was released at Terrys annual musicfest and campout in August of '03. His release 'LIVE at Tommy Alversons Family Gathering' was recorded at Tres Rios River Ranch in October of '05 at Family Gathering 8.
The long awaited 'A Lonesome Sound' was recorded at Patrick McGuires Recording in 2011/12 and was released at the infamous White Elephant Saloon in the Fort Worth stockyards in March of that same year to a very enthusiastic crowd of family, friends and fans! Then came the release of Terry Rasor 'LIVE' at Poor David's Pub... a little BW, a little Fromholz and a whole lotta Raz..., recorded Sept. of 2014 at Poor David's in Dallas, an intimate acoustic Raz Trio set...
Terry is honored to be an original 'Geezer' along with Amos Staggs and Tommy Alverson and is the first recipient of the coveted Steven Fromholz Singer/Songwriter Award! In the past few years Terry has released his latest album 'On Fire' and is currently in the studio working on a family/spiritual album with songs he and his dad had played together as well!
More than five decades have passed since his first audience and Terry has been blessed to have befriended and shared the stage with many well established Texas artists! So be sure and check his schedule for an upcoming show near you and see what all the Raz is about! You'll be glad you did!

How proud we are to present you with the Volume IX of our "LIVE AT POOR DAVID'S PUB" SERIES!
When I first heard Terry Rasor sing at the Steven Fromholz memorial, I was immediately struck by how he resonated the music of our dearly departed Steven and Buckwheat; hence the title, "A LITTLE BW, A LITTLE FROMHOLZ, A WHOLE LOTTA RAZ!"

Carlos "The Magnificent", soundman extraordinaire, has made it sound like we are right in Terry's lap while he's booming basso, profoundo and excelentemundo!
This may well be our best sounding/mixed of all 9! Buy several copies, help Terry get some spare cash for his grandkids, help Poor David (me) exit the realm of penury...
Thanks to all who brought this together, it was well worth the wait!
Terry Rasor's gruff voice is an acquired taste. This set, which was recorded at our Gathering in October last year, was probably one of the finest sets of the week, as you will hear. It was recorded direct to two-track with no overdubs or 'fixes' as we call 'em. What you hear here is exactly what went down that night, an incredible performance. If you didn't get to witness this show live, please do yourself a favor and check Terry and the band out the next time you get the chance; I'm sure they'll be back at Gathering #9.
